‘When We Were Young’ music festival canceled Saturday due to high winds
As a wind-force warning was given for the day, crowds for the KUERDUSK and UB40 music festivals canceled their camping plans.
Officials cited the risk of severe thunderstorms and high winds as the reasons for the cancellation.
The organizers of both music festivals said Saturday afternoon that they will re-schedule their music events in the future.
“It’s a very unfortunate situation,” said JT Martin, of KUERDUSK.
Martin said he expects both festivals to be canceled again in the near future.
“It’s very unfortunate to cancel a music festival due to the wind,” said Martin.
Martin also said he wants to see organizers improve safety measures that could minimize the risk of injuries, particularly among children.
“We will not rest until we see all this and we see all the solutions,” said Martin.
The canceled festival is KUERDUSK, which was scheduled for Saturday in Hays, Kan.
The UB40 festival organizers canceled their festival in the Windy City on Saturday due to the cancellation of KUERDUSK.
“All of us love to play, but this situation was beyond our control,” said UB40 festival organizer Greg Schauberger. He said people will be able to reschedule their next UB40 festival.
“We’re going to try our best to put on a great show,” said Schauberger.
Schauberger said he learned of the cancellation of KUERDUSK when he checked the weather forecast for Saturday afternoon.
“I had to tell the people at my house ‘I can’t play at your festival because there’s a thunderstorm warning,'” Schauberger said.
Schauberger said he didn’t want to cancel KUERDUSK until he knew how widespread the thunderstorm warning would be.
“It’s not a good day to cancel a festival when it’s not even a good day to play
