Pence closes door to testifying before ‘partisan’ Jan. 6 Committee; Trump: I never said I wanted to run for president – The Hill (CNN) The head of the National Republican Congressional Committee urged GOP leaders to hold off on scheduling Chairman @RonnaMcDaniel into a high-dollar, weeklong town hall Tuesday.
“I am confident that Chairman Ronna McDaniel will continue to do the absolute best job she can,” House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy said in a statement. “The NRCC is doing everything it can to schedule a meaningful event for Chairman McDaniel, and we hope to be able to add an in-person forum with Chairman McDaniel to the weeklong schedule as soon as possible.”
“However, since Chairman McDaniel has indicated she would prefer a town hall forum, we are going to hold the town hall date on January 6,” McCarthy said.

“We’re getting close. We’ll see where we go,” Scalise told CNN in a separate interview Tuesday. “I’m going to be available to her. I’m going to be there for her town hall opportunity.”
Trump last week said that, if it were possible, he would prefer a town hall with Scalise, who has had a turbulent relationship with Pelosi throughout his time in Congress and the White House.
“If we can do one, let’s do one, because they would be great,” Trump said of Scalise and McCarthy. “I’d love to do them because they’re Republicans, I like ’em, I believe them,
